Hunter's Turn

Oh Hi, You see fishies on Mom's Blog ? Me likey fishies. If you put mouse on fishies they follow you. Then click mouse & fishies get foods. Ha-Ha Fun. Now me can play with fishies alla time, and they no stop moving.
Me like to play games with Mom, is fun. Me play "Hide and Seek". Me take stuff, "Hide" it, and Mom has to "Seek" it. Heehee. Mom still look for fuzzy white birdie. Me say, "No Mom is not there."
Me like floor thing when Mom pushes it across floor. Better than rug ride. Because Mom pushes it for me. And, duster thing. Mom shake it, me catch it.
Me and Mom have lotta fun together.
But some times me have to make sure Mom doing things right. Like when she clean litter box. Me not like stinky litter box. Me say, "Mom, you use to much litter again." But, Mom not listen. So, me take some out. And, when Mom wash fork and spoon. Me have to make sure that clean. Me say, "Oh Mom, missed a spot." And, they make nice sound when they go back in sink, "Clink, clink".
Me some time help Mom clean out fridge. Put head in trash bag and sniff. Me say, "Mom, this still smell good." try to take out to put back in fridge. But, Mom put back in trash.
Me go now. Watch little fishies. You not get away this time fishies !

Hunter likes Housework.

I can't make a move without Hunter following me around. So, when it's time to clean my Apt. I have to do it with him in tow. When I make my bed......there is always a cat sized lump in the middle. I've learned to just let it go. I finish making the bed....cat lump & all.
Hunter just loves the Swiffer Sweeper. When I'm pushing it around with the dust pad on it.......he will run, grab the handle, then sit on the sweeper part for a free ride across the floor. When he sees me get the Sweeper out.....he will run to the cupboard under the sink, get a pad out of the box, & bring it to me. He also loves the Swiffer duster. When I get it out to dust the living room...bedroom & computer desk. Hunter will run, jump & make grabs for it. Sometimes he gets it.......& he will go trotting off with it in his mouth...like he's so proud of himself for getting the evil duster.
Hunter use to sit on the counter next to the sink & watch me do the dishes.....he always liked the sponge I used. After the dishes were washed......he'd steal the sponge...& bat it around the kitchen floor. Till one day, when he jumped up there & I hit him on the nose with the wet sponge. I hated to do it, but didn't like replacing the sponge every time I wanted to wash dishes. Hunter still gets up on the counter & pushes the silverware into the sink...one at a time. I don't have a dish drainer, I lay the dishes & silverware out on a kitchen towel & let them air dry. I don't know why this crazy cat does that (with the silverware)...but, he'll do it every time.
Hunter HAS to supervise the cleaning of his litter box. He will jump up on the toilet or sink & just watch me dump out the dirty litter.......wipe the inside of the litter box out with a Clorox wipe....then dump clean litter back in. After I put the litter box back on the rug in the corner........he will get in it, & half the litter will go on the rug. I will have to pick up the rug & dump the litter back in.
But, this is a cat that turns everything into a game. Even laundry. When I separate the laundry......he will sit on the bed & watch me. When he sees an opening.......he jumps into the pile of laundry.....& runs away with a sock....a bra....even under pants. I made the mistake once of leaving the pile of whites on the bedroom floor, while I took a basket to the laundry room. Hunter jumped into the pile.........& took off (through the opened Apt. door) down the hall way....with my under pants in his mouth. Gees !
No wonder it takes me all day to clean a small one bedroom Apt.

Hunter talks a lot.

Hunter "Meows" a lot.....or "talks" a lot. I didn't want a quiet cat......you never know where they are. This would bother some people...but not me. I love it when he walks into a room...."Meow----meow----meow" he sort of announces himself.
Hunter has all different "Meows" too. There's his....."I'm mad at you !" "Meowowow" His, "Yow, yow" or "I'm starving" & his "Ow, ow" or "For Pete's sakes...clean the litter box !" He has a little "Mew" when he's happy. I've even heard him say..."Moo"...not quite sure what that means. Then there's a sound Hunter makes when he's on a tear...running around the Apt. like crazy. It sort of sounds like "Barking." I kid you not. A few people have heard it while I'm on the phone & have asked, "When did you get a dog ?" It's not a dog...it's Hunter. Hunter also makes this "Barking" sound when he takes a ride on a rug.
If I talk to Hunter...he will "talk" back. We have long conversations at the table in the evenings.
When Hunter knocks the phone off the charger.....he will look down at it & "Meow" I wonder sometimes what the poor Telemarketer on the other end thinks when he or she hears...."Meow" instead of "Hello".
The man down the hall form me has an orange Tabby. he told me his cat (Rusty) has been sitting by his Apt. door at night "Meowing". I told him that he probably hears Hunter. There is an Apt. in between them......but, they are "Talking" to each other at night. The man said his cat was normally very quiet. Not Hunter....you can hear him all the way down the hall to the elevator.....& some times even in the Laundry room when he really gets going.
And, you should hear Hunter when he's going to the Vet....you'd think he's walking the last mile. For a cat who tries so hard to get out....he really kicks up a fuss. I have to tell him...."You're OK Hunter." just to calm him down.
Right now the Apt. is so quiet....Mr. Hunter is taking a nap. But, as soon as he wakes up...he'll be walking around "Meowing" wanting to be fed.

Hunter's Turn

Oh Hi. Me read Mom's Blog. Yes me take things. Mom forgot 2 things me use to take alla time. The sponge Mom wash dishes with. Fun to play with. Me use to take before Mom get real cat toys. Then Mom hit me on nose with wet sponge. Me take no more. Me also take white puffy thing Mom take shower with. That fun to play with too. But, Mom hang up very high, and me not reach it. Me like Mom's dresser and jump up on it alla time. Lotta fun stuff up there. Round fuzzy things Mom wears in her hair ARE cat toys, not care what Mom says. Look like cat toys to me. Lotta shiny things. Me like shiny things. And, fuzzy white birdie IS Mine. Mine ! Mine ! Mine ! Me like to sleep with him. Nice fuzzy white birdie. Mom call him "Owl". Fuzzy white birdie belong to ME ! Mom will never find fuzzy white birdie, Heehee. Me have to check Mom's lunch box. Make sure she packed it right. And, when me find pudding snack. Me say, "No Mom, pudding snack for me." But, Mom not listen to me. And me Have to check the fridge. Look for yogurt, and for Ham. Mom must hide ham, me can never find. And Mom make lotta things with yarn. Me like yarn. Yarn soft and nice to play with. Me take yarn too. Mom make me cat nip mouse with yarn. Me like yarn mouse. But, like yarn more. Why Mom get alla fun stuff to play with, and not let me play with it. Me not know. So, yes me take things. Fun to play with. And, fuzzy white birdie is Mine ! Not belong to Mom. Now me go, say Bye-Bye. "Mom, me want ham." "Hey Mom, give me ham." "Mom,you hear me ?" "Me want ham, please."

Hunter is a "Cat" burglar.

Hunter likes to get up on my dresser. He takes my hair Scruggs & hides them in his cardboard box. I know he does it......even if I've never "seen" him do it. There is only him & me here......& unless I have a ghost who likes Scruggs.....It's Hunter taking them. Some times he takes them to the Apt. door & pushes them under. I've found them in the hall the next morning....so I shove them in my pocket & go on to work.
Hunter likes a lot of things on my dresser. I wear pins alot. The big ones of Easter bunnies.....Christmasy things.....Turkeys.....Pumkins...ect. Any who, I like to wear them on my coat & sweaters. Hunter likes them too.....& if I leave them out of my jewelry box...they come up missing. I found a 4 leaf clover pin in the shower once.
One thing on my dresser that he just loves.......& if you ask him, he would tell you it belongs to him. It's a small white owl, a stuffed toy, Hedwig, the Harry Potter owl. He takes it...& I take it back. I've found poor Hedwig on the bed.....in the recliner....in his box......in the shower....in the dirty cloths basket.....& in the closet where Hunter likes to sleep. But, Hunter's been hiding Hedwig lately. Hedwig turned up in a kitchen cupboard........then Hedwig was found under the bed.
And, it's not just my dresser. Hunter will put his whole head into something & take a good look inside. A grocery bag.......my lunch box.......the storage bin of yarn. he's a strong cat too.......once he puts his head inside some thing.....you are not getting him out till he has a good look around. With his head inside a grocery bag......Hunter found the ice pops I bought......he bit into one......what a mess. I opened the bag of ice pops & tried to throw it away, but Hunter grabbed it.........& we had a tug of war with it. My kitchen floor was a sticky ice pop mess. It wasn't the ice pop he wanted...it was the plastic tube it came in. Hunter takes things out of my lunch box......usually in the morning while I'm getting dressed for work........he takes plastic spoons out....napkins. Once he reached in & grabbed a pudding cup & went trotting away with it.
If I open the fridge while he's in the kitchen......anything on the bottom shelf he will grab & run with. Doesn't matter what it is....a box of cherry tomatoes.....a loaf of bread......or a cup of yogurt, anything is fair game.
But, the things he takes most often are the Scruggs & poor Hedwig. Right now even as I write this Hedwig is gone from the dresser....& nowhere in sight. So, I wonder where I'll find her. Hunter will run out of hiding place for Hedwig soon...this is just a small Apt. & there's just not many places a cat can hide an owl.

Hunter is a Smart cat.

Here is a list of things Hunter can do.
Keep in mind, he figured this stuff out by watching me.

1. Open the Apt. & bathroom doors

2. Turn the water in the bathroom sink on.
Once again, my faucets have handles, not knobs. You push down for cold & up for hot. He puts his paw on the handle & pushes down.

3. Turn the TV on.
I have a remote with big buttons. He knocks it on the floor & steps on the ON button.

4. Open the kitchen cupboards.

5. Answer the phone.
If you take my phone off the charger it automatic is on "Talk". Hunter jumps up on the counter, & knocks the phone off the charger when it rings. I've come home from work & found the phone on the counter & ask him, "Who are you calling ?"

6. Turn on the Computer.
Once again.....it's the buttons. He loves buttons & pushing them.

7. Find zip-lock baggies.
Doesn't matter where I put them...he always finds them, & chews them to pieces.

8. Get me a pad for the Swiffer Sweeper.

9. Turn off the Alarm clock.
More buttons.......He gets up on his back legs & with his front paw...hits the "Snooze" button.

10. Comes & gets me when he's made a mess.
If he's hacked up a hair-ball.....throw-up......or missed the litter box. He will come up to me,stand on his back legs & pat my arm with his paw.......till I come & clean up the mess.

And, there you have it....Hunter, the amazing cat !

Hunter is an Apt. cat.

Hunter use to live in a house & was use to coming & going when ever he pleased. That is,inside or outside when ever he pleased. I was told by the Humane Society, Hunter was taken by a family who did not ask their Landlord if they could even have a cat. This was the last family who adopted Hunter. He was a Birthday gift for their small daughter. I had asked as many questions about Hunter as I could think of. He had been adopted 5 times.....& was only a year old (poor guy). He had a history of running away. Nobody could tell me what happened to his tail.......or why there was no fur on both sides of his face from his whiskers to his ears (it's growing back in now). It looked like somebody had shaved him. Hunter is suppose to have a tail.......& the Vet just said it looks like it was cut off. But, she couldn't tell me why ???
Hunter has adjusted well to being an inside only cat. He still looks longingly out the window in the spring & summer......even though he's been neutered. You can tell he'd like to be out there chasing squirrels & Butterflies. I wanted to get him a harness & leash......so I could take him out every now & then, but the Vet told me it was better not to. If he was meant to be an inside cat...then keep him in.
When I first brought Hunter home.....I was also told to give him a "Safe" room, till he got use to the Apt. So, before I went to work...I'd put his food & water in the bathroom & close the door. The only problem with that was Hunter learned how to open doors right away. And as soon as I went out the Apt. door, he'd come out of the bathroom. My neighbors would tell me he'd howl all day long. The man across the hall even told me if I wanted to get a "Friend" for Hunter he wouldn't report me to the office.. So, apparently he wasn't use to being along either. So, I would spend a little extra time petting him before I went to work.
Hunter was a very "Needy" cat when he came to live with me. He would follow me all around & jump up in my lap every time I sat down. It was like he was starving for love. Which was OK with me, as I was feeling a little "Hungry" myself.
The races for the Apt. door began as soon as Hunter had free run of the Apt. Every morning I'd pick him up......put him on the bed....pet his head & assure him, I'd be back. It took months, but it worked. Now all I have to do is turn off the TV in the morning & he just goes into the bedroom.....then I tell him,"Bye Buddy, I'm going to work now, I'll be back as soon as I can."
That's what I call Hunter..."Buddy" or "my Buddy". Because he is my Buddy. Some times I call him "Dude" LOL
I'm just happy Hunter & I are living together so well. I was determined Not to take him back to the Humane Society for the 6Th time. He deserved a better life.
And, he's always been such a well mannered cat. He has never clawed up the furniture......he claws his cardboard box to pieces. He has never really peed on anything......he did once, but I think he was just mad at me. He doesn't mind "Playing" dress-up every now & then. LOL No, I don't do it often. He respects my space.......& I respect his.
I do some times wonder about where he's come from, but decided the past is the past. It's just Hunter & me.......in the here & now.

Hunter's turn

Oh Hi, you back again? Me not know where Mom is today, maybe at food buying place. Me think about being an Apt. cat today. At first me think, maybe me not like to live in Apt. alla time. But, then me see snow out window and think, "it good to be here safe and warm with Mom." But still, when grass green and birdies are here, me would like to be outside. I try to tell Mom, "I come back." But Mom not listen. Lotta bad things outside too. Scary place for a cat. So, now me Apt. cat. Not so bad, lotta good foods, lotta soft warm places to sleep, lotta things to play with. Some times Mom yell at me, "Hunter get down." Me a cat Mom, cats climb things. Me like sound fork and spoon make when I push them in sink, but Mom yell, "Hunter don't do that." Mom not yell alla time. I sit in Mom's lap and she pet and pet me. feel so nice. Me purr and purr. Tell her, "Me love you Mom." Me have jobs too. Wake Mom up in morning and tell Mom go bed at night. If me not tell Mom to go bed, she watch TV box or be on computer alla night. And guard Apt door, most importent job of all. Also, every time phone ring, me knock off stand. "Mom, is for you." me yell. Mom come get phone then. What Mom do without me? Me not know. It sometimes hard to be Apt. cat with all jobs me have to do. Me look out window alla time. Make sure parking lot safe. Me wonder sometimes, "What if Mom leave and not come back." Me would be sad no more Mom. But, Mom always come back. But, when me first come to live with Mom and she left to go to work place. Me did not know if she come back or not. Me try to tell people on other side of Apt. door, say, "Help, me all alone, Mom gone, find her, find her, Please." Nobody listen to me. But, Mom come back and every thing alright. Not so bad be only Apt. cat. Me not have to share, not share foods, not share Mom. All to me. Now me like being Apt. cat. Can look out window and not get hurt by bad things, have Mom to keep me safe, get good foods. Mom to play with me. Life as a cat is good. Me go now, take nap on bed, and wait for Mom.

Hunter likes to play.

Hunter is still a young cat. He's only 3 years old. Everything is a game to him.
I found the end of a peacock feather on the floor at work, & brought it home with me. I'd hold it up above Hunter's head......he'd reach up with his paws...then I'd drop it & it would come floating down...while he would swipe at it. Some times it would land on the bridge of his nose.
Of course Hunter's very favorite game is, "What's under the Apt. door.", but there are other people involved in that game. There has to be somebody on the other side of the door for the game to work. Step 1. take the small mouse (Whice I now call "The door mouse") & place under the door. Step 2. Meow & get a passer-by to push the mouse back under.......Hours of fun.
The game we play at night while I'm trying to read is "Tickle feet". Hunter lays on his back & puts his back feet on my arm....I reach over & tickle the bottoms of his big back feet......he trys to grab my hand & play bite it.
some times he gets a wild hair & goes on a tear thought the Apt. He'll run from one end to the other jumping over furniture or scooting under it. Once he got caught up in the sheets on the bed & came dragging them into the living room behind him.
I'm always buying cat toys. And once when my Landlady came to my Apt. to check my smoke alarm. She said, "Holy Man, this cat has more toys than my 2 kids put together." Hunter does have a lot of toys. But, I figured he needed something to keep him amused all day while I was at work. Hunter's favorite toy is his cardboard box. yup, a cardboard box. he loves it. He uses it as a scratching post........he puts things in it........sleeps in it.......& pushes it around the floor. so, every couple of weeks I replace the box. He also likes the plastic tubes ice pops come in.......I give him an empty one.....& he will chase it all over the Apt. ending up happily chewing on it.
Hunter also likes, "Fetch" the mouse. I throw the little gray felt mouse (which is a little worse for wear) & he goes & gets it.......brings it back to me.....& I throw it again........Hours of fun.
It's fun to watch Hunter dig through his basket of toys.......reminds me so much of a little kid digging through a toy box looking for just the right toy. And, every toy has it's own place. The little white fuzzy mouse stays by the Apt. door.......the gray felt mouse stays by the food bowls.........the jingle balls stay in the cardboard box.......& the orange cat nip mouse stays in the bathroom. He will play with his little mouse toys for hours.......but, then they all go back to their own places. I some times wonder why he does that ? He's just a funny cat.

Hunter's Turn.

Oh, Hi. Mom at work place. Make lotta monies to get stuff for me. Me figure out how to use computer thing. Heehee Me read some of Mom's message boards. Silly humans, always trying to figure out why we cats do what we do. Listen, if you leave yummy food out and unguarded, we eat yummy food. If it comes into our house, don't care what it is. It's a Cat Toy. If you don't want us cats to sleep on the bedspred you give lotta money for, don't put it on the bed. If it comfy, we sleep on it. Oh wait, BRB. Me had to go look under door, heard some one in hall. That my job. Guard Apt. door. Let nice people in, keep bad people out. Mom always let Maintance man in. Him always mess with bathtub drain. Why him do this, me not know. Me sit on tub and watch him. Him wear tools around him waist, shiney. Maintance man not like to play, or pet me. Never bring treats. Me would keep him out of Apt. But, Mom wash hair, water get up to Mom's ankles, Mom call Maintance man. Mom get new plant, Me call red head cactus, Mom call "Moon Cactus". Took me long time to get old one out of pot, but me finely did. Was not good to eat, Yucky. Then Mom get new one. Not want to share window with red head cactus. Me will get this one too. Like pretty blue fishie Mom had. Me get fishie too.Heehee But, you no tell Mom, OK. Mom think fishie just die. Play with fishie alla time, then fishie stop moving. No more fun. Now time to look out window. Mom get off bus soon. Me watch from window as Mom get off bus and walk across parking lot. When me hear eleavator, Mom home ! Wonder if Mom bring treats today ? Most times Mom bring home treats like roast chicken from work place, or Pizza (Yummy). When Mom come home, me get lotta pets, and good foods. (sigh) It good to be a Cat.

Hunter...Everybody knows his name.

When I go to work people don't greet me with, "Hi Shirl, how you doing ?" Nope, it's always...."Hi Shirl, how's Hunter ?" Even when I go to the Meal site I volunteer at....."How's Hunter today ?" The people who live here in the Apt. building will ask...."What's Hunter up to ?" Even my Landlady asks about Hunter. It's unreal. he's a popular cat. Or maybe it's because I just talk about him so much. Every time I call the Vets office, they ask....."What's Hunter done now ?" They remember times like when he sucked cheap cat litter up his nose & was sneezing his head off......& I called them in a panic saying, "This is not normal." I really thought he had contracted some rare & tropical disease. Or when the wasp got into the Apt. Hunter...Mighty Cat that he is stalked the wasp.....till it landed on the floor. It was pounce...slap....YOWWWW !!!!! I looked at Hunter's poor paw. It wasn't red or swollen. I did call the Vet. She told me to put baking soda & water on it. It's a good thing I have the Vet's number on the fridge. But, Hunter is a people kind of cat.......once you've met him...you never forget him. It's his eyes, they are big & gold......you can see the intellagentce behind them. I just had a Birthday......I came home from work & sticking out from under my Apt. door was a card......I opened it in the hall. On it was a picture of a cat that looked a little like Hunter wearing big pink sun glasses & a pink feathered boa...inside it said, "Release your inner Diva today.....Happy Birthday Mom......Love Hunter." I don't know who really sent me the card...I'd like to think Hunter did. I got another card from Hunter once. When I was in the Hospital. I was out of my room having some tests done, when I got back, on the table next to the bed was a card with a picture of a sad looking cat on it.....inside it said (Handwritten in a small child's hand) "I miss you so much Mom, get better and come home soon, Love Hunter." I was touched. Maybe it's because I love Hunter so much....& when I talk about him people see that come shining through. Or maybe he is that lovable. I only know in my little corner of the world........he's a very popular cat.

Hunter and the Apt. Door.

The Apt. door is not just a way out. It's Hunter's gateway to the outside world. When he first came to live with me & discovered there were People on the other side of that door...he was a happy cat (to say the least). There is the man who lives across the hall from me......the Maint. man (who is afraid of Hunter BTW)......the cleaning lady....& Floor Monitors (I live in an Apt. building for older people & they come early in the morning, knock on your door & make sure you're OK) Hunter learned fast who was going to be outside the door at what time. The Floor monitor comes about 8 0 Clock A.M. Hunter waits by the door with his little toy mouse.....& pushes it under the door..then waits...the mouse comes back under the door.....back into the hall the mouse goes. Many time when I leave for work.....I will find the mouse stuck in my door knocker. At 11 0 clock the cleaning lady comes to vacuum the hallways on the 7Th Floor.......Hunter is ready...with little scraps of paper.....yarn.....or needlework floss. Out into the hall they go from under the door. He's such a "Helpful" boy. (LOL) Why, the poor cleaning lady would have nothing to do if it wasn't for Hunter. Now the Maint. man is a whole other can of worms. When Hunter hears him in the hall, he will put his little paws under the door....& fish around till he gets something......the cuff of the mans pants.....or the laces of his work boots. What Hunter really likes is when the Maint. man has a notice from the office for me....he will stick it under the door...& it will come flying back out into the hall. Now he just tapes them to my door. The man across the hall comes home from work at 10:30 P.M. Hunter waits by the door with his trusty mouse toy.......this goes on for hours, you'd think the man would be tired from working all day, & not want to be bothered with playing "Fetch" with a cat. I came home from work one night & the lady who lives next to me & her sister were standing in the hall by my door. "What's going on ?" I asked. She said she was just showing her sister something.......She put a cat treat on the floor......a paw came out from under the door..fished around...got the treat & disappeared back under the door. "Oh," I said "That's where all those cat treats are coming from." It was such a fun "Game" for her.......I didn't have the heart to tell her......Hunter doesn't eat cat treats. Even when I leave for work in the morning....a little paw will come out from under the door...like he's waiving....."Bye Mom."

Hunter and my mistakes.

I've never had a cat before. When I lived in Florida....I had Ferrets. So, ask me a Ferret question......I'll know the answer......or tell you where you can find the answer. When I got Hunter, I knew nothing about a cat. So, my very first mistake with Hunter was his food. They fed him Meow Mix at the Shelter......so, I kept giving him the Meow Mix. Until the day he coughed up a hair-ball. Now, if you've never seen a hair-ball......it's disgusting. It looks like the cat chewed up a mouse & spit it out...Yuck ! Hunter was hushed to the Vet.....& I was told he needed "Hair-ball control" food. OK, now we have Meow Mix hair-ball control dry food (it's the only kind of dry he'll eat BTW). I'm not even going to go into my experiments with wet (canned) food. All I'll say about that is...cat throw-up is no fun to clean up. The next thing was his Litter box. I thought I could get away with the cheap clay litter. The only problem.....it has a lot of dust in it...& Hunter likes to supervise the cleaning of his litter box. So, one day as I was cleaning it.....he put his face down in the litter & got a nose full of dust. Another trip to the Vet to suck out the litter from Hunter's nose. Now we have Tidy Cats...99.99% dust free.....YAY ! Then there was his food bowls. I had bought him plastic food bowls.......they were cute...& cheap. But, as I was petting Hunter, I noticed he had all the little black specks in his chin. At first I though...Fleas ! But, I didn't find any fleas. Back to the Vet.......Hunter had feline Acne. Gees ! I didn't even know cats could get acne. Cats get it from eating out of plastic food bowls. OK, nothing but ceramic bowls for Hunter. Then I made the little mistake of putting Hunter's food into the microwave..instead of my food. Now..of course...I have to heat his food before he will eat it. I'm still learning about my Cat.........But, I am learning. And, every time I go to the Vet...& they say, "What's he done now ?" I smile & think......"Yeah, that's my boy."

Hunter....The Helpful cat.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hunter is a very smart cat. He is also very much a people cat. Unlike other cats.....Hunter doesn't mind going to the Vet, because that's where people are.......& he loves being Oohed & Aaaed over...& being told just what a Wonderful cat he is.
A friend of mine doesn't really like cats all that much. She came up to my Apt. once (just the once) because we were going shopping & I wasn't ready yet. I made her a cup of coffee & went to finish getting dressed. When I came out of the bedroom, she said, "You know, I think your cat really likes me, he keeps looking at me & meowing." ........."Oh," I said to her, "You are sitting in his chair."
Another person who comes to my Apt. who doesn't care much for cats is the Maint. man........Hunter has made it his quest to win over the Maint. man.
When we were getting ready to switch over to digital TV.......the Apt. office sent the cable guy around to every body's Apt. to check the connections....Well, this made Hunter's day. The Maint. man & the cable guy....he was in kitty heaven. The cable guy took the plate off the wall (around the cable) & looked in the hole......Hunter had to look into the hole........the cable guy poked around in the hole with his fingers.........Hunter poked around in the hole with his paw. Man look in hole....Hunter look in hole. When the cable guy went to get his tools...Hunter decided this was a good time to try to win over the Maint. man. He rubbed against his legs....tried to play with his keys.....turned over on his back...nothing worked. But, the cable guy was back with a bucket with tools in it. Hunter sniffed the bucket...........then put his whole head inside the bucket. I had to pick him up. When I put him back down Hunter was right back over behind the TV watching the cable guy. The cable guy was turning the cable wire back on to the connector......Hunter put his paw on the connector & gave it a turn. "OK," the cable guy said, "Have you seen my wire cutters ?"........"Just a min." I told the cable guy....went into the bedroom & found the cutters in Hunter's cardboard box. "Here you go." I said to the cable guy.
Even now....Hunter will go behind the TV & mess with the cable connector. And, sometimes even manages to turn it. I had to put tape over the darn thing.
Hunter will also "Help" around the Apt. He loves the Swiffer Sweeper. When I get it out & push it around the floor.....he'll run.....grab the pole & jump on for a free ride across the floor. This is fun for him.......but I have to push a 12 lb. cat around on a Swiffer Sweeper.
One night while I was sitting in my Lazy-boy watching TV....I heard "Clank....clank." coming from the kitchen. I got up to see what was going on....& here was Hunter sitting by the sink....pushing silverware into the sink with his paw. I don't have a dish drainer.....I lay then out on a dish towel. I said, "Don't do it......just don't do it." .........& Hunter looked at me like he was saying, "Do what...this ?" & he pushed a spoon into the sink.

Hunter Likes.......

1. Ham...& will do anything to get it.
2. Plastic........He chews it to pieces.......He likes zip-lock Baggies best, I was putting them on top of the Fridge......but when I seen him jump on the counter.....then the microwave...then the top of the Fridge to get them..........I started putting them inside the Fridge.
3. The dirty cloths basket....it's his favorite place to sleep......I bought him a cat bed, but so far he hasn't slept in it yet.
4. Getting his ears cleaned.....when he sees me with a Q-tip...he'll run to his chair & hold his little ear up at me........but, he hates to be brushed....go figure.
5. People........Hunter is a people cat, & this is why I think he spends so much time at the Apt. door...because he hears people on the other side...& he's in heaven when people come to my Apt.
6. Head pets........only his head, or the sides of his face....No belly rubs please !
7. A white fuzzy mouse.......he loves the thing & carries it around in his mouth.
8. Greenies cat treats....yup, finely found a cat treat he will eat.
9. Yogurt........I let him lick the lids.
10. Looking out the window.........the one in the Living room that over looks the parking lot...so he can watch all the people coming & going...walking their dogs......the birds flying.....& the cars on the street.
